In August, everyone is taking their final summer trips and talking about back-to-school preparations. Anyone with children is focused on things other than buying their next home. And lots of people are squeezing in that last summer getaway.
Once summer is over and routines are re-established, we typically see a surge in activity in the Fall, aka the “September Bump”.
September typically has lots of inventory, and lots of price reductions. Sellers are more open to negotiations. And you have less competition from other Buyers than you do in the Spring and Summer.
It is the last surge in the annual real estate cycle before most people take time off from buying and selling during the holidays.
This is what I call the “September Bump”.
I always have a busy September and October before things quiet down for the winter months.
